Alumni Achievement Award
recognizes our graduates’ significant professional achievements and commitment to the continued development of the Law School.
Charles Klein ’63 is a founding partner of American Securities and has been managing director for more than 30 years. Mr. Klein is active in numerous charitable organizations and is an NYU School of Law trustee.
Pauline Newman ’58 is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Judge Newman is the founding president of Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court as well as a distinguished professor of law at George Mason University School of Law.
Public Service Award recognizes alumni who forge careers in public service and honors those who profoundly impact society.
Ellen Barry ’78 is the executive director of Insight Prison Project, an organization dedicated to reducing recidivism, preventing revictimization, and serving public safety through rehabilitation programs. She is the founder of Legal Services for Prisoners with Children.
Legal Teaching Award
recognizes great teachers for scholarship and for extraordinary dedication to the education and training of law students.
Jane Harris Aiken ’83 is a professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center and director of the Community Justice Project. Professor Aiken currently serves on the American Bar Association Council of the Section of Legal Education.
Recent Graduate Award recognizes the professional achievement of an alumnus who graduated no more than 10 years ago.
Mónica Roa (LL.M. ’03) is director of programs at Women’s Link Worldwide, where she has worked to foster greater dialogue between civil society and the courts on how to interpret rights from a gender perspective. Ms. Roa is also a professor at the American University Washington College of Law.
