Family Day at NYU School of Law
Sunday, October 18, 2009

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 4th Annual Family Day at NYU School of Law.  This popular event is always a highlight of the new academic year, as we offer a special glimpse into a day in the life of students at the Law School.  Last year, hundreds of families participated in Family Day programs.

The Law School’s mission is to prepare students to be leaders in our profession.  We expose students to a vast array of cutting-edge classes, colloquia and lectures presented by world-renowned professors and guest experts.  Family Day is an opportunity for you to experience a sample of your scholar’s academic life, to explore our beautiful campus, and to meet other families – all in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The day begins with breakfast at Vanderbilt Hall, after which I will welcome you and give an overview of the day.  Next, you will be able to select from classes taught by faculty members including Professors Carol Gilligan, Rachel Barkow and myself.  We hope that these seminars provide a sense of the richness and variety of the intellectual community that your students are part of.  Prepare to challenge and be challenged – and have a lot of fun in the process!

After a delicious lunch in Vanderbilt Hall featuring New York food favorites, join us for guided tours of key Law School landmarks.  Next on the schedule is a stimulating panel discussion titled “Obama Era: Economy, Security and Environment,” moderated by Richard Pildes, Sudler Family Professor of Constitutional Law – yet another example of the diversity of scholarly offerings available to students at the Law School on a regular basis.

Bring the whole family (including the actual law student) for this action-packed, exciting and informative day.  I look forward to seeing you at Washington Square!

Warm regards,

Richard Revesz
