OUR FACULTY

Our faculty is considered to be among the most influential in the world. With this prestige comes an imperative to support its breadth and growth, as well as to nurture the scholarship of individual professors and to ensure the depth and excellence of our curriculum.

Your gifts will help us endow faculty chairs, one of the many ways we work to boost recruitment and retention of the academy’s leading lights.

The endowment of a chaired professorship helps fund faculty research projects; supports our faculty law centers, which frequently act as a springboard for more elaborate enterprises; and enriches our faculty’s collective intellectual experience through workshops, colloquia and conferences.

Here are only a few examples of recent faculty projects that your gifts have supported: a headline-grabbing empirical study of the costs of class-action suits; award-winning research on corporate governance, securities fraud and bondholder rights; critical studies on the use of cost-benefit analysis in the environmental regulatory process; significant victories before the U.S. Supreme Court, ranging from death penalty regulation to defense of campaign-finance reforms; scholarly yet accessible books on Islam and democracy and this country’s church-state conflicts; and heavy-hitting conferences that bring major players to the table on such important subjects as human rights, international policing and terrorism.
