LAW ALUMNI OF COLOR ASSOCIATION

Make a Gift

We rely on you—our students, alumni, and friends—to support NYU School of Law and keep it on an upward trajectory. Your gifts help us provide funding for program development, financial aid for students, public interest support, faculty recruitment, clinics, and student-run organizations. In addition to gifts, your participation in the activities of the Law School—from celebrating your reunion and attending events on campus to playing an active role in the LACA family—enriches the life of this institution and demonstrates the lively spirit that is NYU School of Law.

Through our Annual Fund, our top priorities are continuing to provide scholarships to hundreds of students, via the Loan Repayment Assistance Program, which subsidizes full tuition repayment for graduates working for public interest organizations and government agencies, and the Public Interest Summer Grants, which pay a stipend to students who take summer public interest jobs, in either the government or private not-for-profits sector.

While our strongest needs are within our Annual Fund, your gift can also be allocated to the following:

  • The LACA General Fund, which allows LACA to host informational programming throughout the academic year as well as the Annual Spring Dinner, which celebrates alumni and student achievement while attracting top admitted students of color
  • The Derrick Bell Lecture on Race in American Society, the annual fall lecture which presents the top scholars and legal thinkers about race in the country
  • The Derrick Bell Scholarship for Public Service, available to second-year students who are members of APALSA, BALSA, LaLSA, MENALSA, or SALSA, and have proven their dedication to public service, who plan to pursue careers in public interest law, and who demonstrate a commitment to social justice in the best tradition of Professor Derrick Bell.

The Weinfeld Program

As part of our most prestigious donor recognition program, members of the Weinfeld Program commit to making annual gifts at varying levels to the Law School Annual Fund. Their dedication allows us to support multiple ongoing programs, as well as students and faculty. It also gives us the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the Law School.

Weinfeld Members receive special recognition in the Annual Report of Donors and are listed on the Weinfeld Plaque in Vanderbilt Hall and are invited to select programs, including an annual gala, events focused on legal education, social gatherings, and receptions for visiting dignitaries.
