Environmental and Land Use Law Scholars Program
The Environmental Law Scholars Program awards scholarships in amounts up to full tuition to students who have a strong background and interest in environmental and land use law and have the ability to bring this perspective to class discussion.
Scholars will have the opportunity to work closely with environmental and land use faculty. For example, early in the semester of their first year, the faculty director will hold an orientation dinner for student scholars and selected upper year students interested in environmental and land use law. The faculty director will also be available to mentor student fellows throughout their law school careers. Scholars will be given priority to work with faculty from the Center for Environmental and Land Use Law as research assistants in their first summer, or their second or third years. In addition, Center faculty will work with the fellows to find them journal note or “A” paper topics related to environmental or land use law or policy, and work with the fellows to enable them to publish their research.
Scholars will be guaranteed “Center” fellowships for their first summer that will enable them to work with environmental and land use regulatory agencies or non-profit organizations in the United States and abroad. Faculty will work with scholars to help them find summer or term-time positions with government agencies, not-for-profit organizations or law firms working in domestic or international environmental and land use law.
Scholars in the Center for Environmental and Land Use Law will also be invited to participate in events sponsored by the Center. For an overview of the types of events the Center has sponsored in the past, please see the Center's Web site at /centers/elc/conferences/index.htm.
