Kyushu University (Fukuoka, Japan)
Up to two NYU Law students may study at Kyushu University per academic year. Please note that the academic calendar at Kyushu is very different from NYU's. Students attending Kyushu in fall will take their final exams in absentia in January. Students attending Kyushu in spring must take into consideration the fact that the semester ends in July.
Kyushu University Faculty of Law was founded in 1924 as part of Kyushu Imperial University's School of Law and Literature. From its inception, it has been an institution that has maintained a position of national preeminence in education and research in both the fields of law and political science, as well as making a significant contribution to the development of law within Japan.
Their faculty members are renowned specialists in their respective fields and continue to play leading roles in both research and advisory work. In addition, the Law Faculty has one of the largest law libraries in Japan.
Students can choose from a selection of any classes in Kyushu's LL.M. Program, which are conducted entirely in English. The program is especially strong in international economic and business law, as well as Japanese and comparative law. In addition, classes in Japanese are available for students who are interested.
Kyushu University's location within the city of Fukuoka provides students easy accessibility to many of the cultural and entertainment activities in the city, such as a number of museums and art galleries, a public zoo, the largest entertainment and sports venue in Japan, the Fukuoka Dome, and a newly completed seaside area with beach and boardwalk. All parts of Fukuoka are connected by a clean and efficient public transit system of subways, buses, and trains.
