Vanderbilt Hall (40 Washington Sq. South)
Mark Geistfeld, Sheila Lubetsky Birnbaum Professor of Civil Litigation will present his lecture “The Field of Torts in Law’s Empire.” In Law's Empire, the field of torts must be morally coherent with other bodies of law. Relying on hotly contested issues in products liability, Professor Geistfeld argues that the need to base tort law on a general conception of justice is not merely an abstract exercise of political philosophy, but is also essential for effective lawyering.A reception will immediately follow the lecture.
