Rates

"Law School" and "University" rates are billed to internal groups within NYU School of Law or the University, respectively, who are primarily responsible for all the planning, on-site management, and expenses related to an event. According to University guidelines, event "sponsorship" exists only when a branch of the University maintains an ongoing sponsorship of an outside organization, not just a specific event of that organization. Affiliation of a member of the faculty or administration with an outside event or organization does not automatically qualify the event for either the Law School or the University rate. Please call the Office of Special Events at (212) 998-6113 if you have questions about whether an event qualifies for the University rate.

Cancellation

Once a booking is confirmed with the Office of Hospitality and Food Services, all other requests for that space on that day are denied. In the event of a cancellation, the organization booking that space will be charged unless the event is canceled more that one month prior to the event. If the cancellation occurs one month to two weeks prior to the event, $100 will be charged. For cancellations within two weeks prior to the scheduled event, the full fee will be assessed.

Vanderbilt Hall Courtyard

The Courtyard serves as the main point of entry for Vanderbilt Hall and as a peaceful and quiet place for conversation by the members of our community. Recently, the courtyard underwent a major renovation which included the addition of a fountain and new landscaping, and remains the most recognizable physical characteristic of the Law School. In order to preserve the Courtyard for its primary intended uses, Student Groups are not allowed to use the Courtyard for any social events. Only one exception will be made for the traditional SBA garden parties.

Mercer Pub & Residence Halls

Mercer Terrace

Please note that the Terrace is not available to be utilized as function space at this time.  Mercer terrace is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. so that residents may enjoy this area.  A guard will be posted on the terrace during open hours.   At all other times, the terrace is locked and off-limits.  Due to the limited hours of terrace access, bookings for private events will not be accepted so that all residents may enjoy the terrace.

Please visit http://www.law.nyu.edu/housing/oncampushousing/renovationsandongoingprojects/index.htm for further information.

To reserve Mercer Pub please contact the Office of Hospitaltiy and Food Services at 212-998-6117. Please note this space is not available 15 days before finals due to quiet hours. There are also limited summer hours. Student groups must provide their chartfield number to make a reservation. If the room is left in poor condition, a $121.50 charge will be made to the chartfield. For non-student groups reserving the space, you must drop off a check in the amount of $121.50 which our office will hold until the conclusion of the event. If the room is left clean, you may pick up the check; if not we will cash it.

For events taking place in Mercer Pub and residence hall terraces with non-resident attendees, a guest list is required for security purposes. Each guest should be denoted as either Law School-affiliated or from outside the Law School community and the list must include the event name/date/time/location, and contact name with phone number. Please provide the building guard on duty with a copy of the list prior to the event.

Grilling and smoking are prohibited on all terraces.

Mercer Pub and all residence hall terraces are closed to events beginning fifteen days prior to and through the finals periods, in accordance with quiet hours.

The Mercer Pub has a curfew of 11:00 pm on weeknights and 1:00 am on weekends. The residence hall terraces have a curfew of 11:00 pm on all nights. Excessive noise will result in an early shut-down of the event.
